studio4 critique

This past Monday, my class had a critique on our work thus far. I really like hearing what my classmates have to say because they always point something out that might not have ever crossed your mind. A few people commented on how my pieces are nice and all, but my craftsmanship is poor because of smudges which wouldn't look very presentable in a portfolio. I recieved many flattering comments that boosted my confidence about materials I struggled to work with. I LOVE my studio 4 senior class!!!!

This is the close to final product for my senior grant project. It is also the first of a series of 3 comic strips addressing school issues.

New project!

Soooo...Ms. Osediacz has decided to pass on a challenge to our senior class. She assigned us an independent project. How independent? Do whatever you want, whatever medium you want, whatever scale you want, as long as it follows the theme of food. For my project, I am making a comic strip about school lunch. I drew out the layout with panels and such, and I'm setting up each frame's composition with pencil. After I draw out the whole story, I ink the final marks I want and then erase stray pencil marks so they don't show up. Then I scan my images onto photoshop and do all the coloring and crisp editing on the computer. When I finish, I'll be sure to post the strip on my blog!

I've had success in capturing the form.I've had trouble with the letters matching that form and making value with graphite.

This is a comic strip I did last school year using prismacolor markers. I didn't have a sense for blending at the time but I still really like the bold colors.
